Grand Bend development nearing completion

August 14, 2018 – Colin Gowdy, Blackburn News Sarnia

A state-of-the-art development at the foot of Main St. in Grand Bend is almost complete.

The three-storey structure, located just before the beach, is home to a new restaurant, and eventually will house seven residential units.

The Main St. Burger Co. and Willie’s Beach Bar opened their doors in early June.

Manager Bill Thomson says business at the daytime family restaurant and night time bar has been booming this summer.

“Our weekends are really busy. We have a live DJ every weekend and we’ve started a couple of things during the week,” he says. “We also have a couple of games out for the kids [during the day], so it’s a good spot for parents to relax and have a cold beverage.”

Thomson says the condos located above the restaurant are probably going to be complete for September and be up for sale in October.

“The front three residences are two-storey, 2,000 sq ft., and three bedrooms. The back four are two bedroom, and a little smaller, but still really nice.”

The owner of the development, Sam Karamoutzos, also owns the Growling Gator on the other side of Main St.
