May 17, 2018 – Lee Michaels, Blackburn News – Lambton College has prevailed in a classic case of David versus Goliath.
Co-faculty advisor John Milos says Lambton College has won the national Enactus Canada championship.
“We were competing against all of the top universities and colleges in the country, that’s 47 universities and 20 colleges, and Lambton College won the Canadian National Championship for Enactus and in October we will be off to San Jose, California to compete against 35 other countries from around the world,” says Milos. “We are so proud to represent the college, our city and our country.”
Lambton College won for its six-year “One Seed” project in Zambia that’s helped 100 villages lift a quarter of a million people out of poverty this year alone.
“One Seed” is not only an agricultural program, but a housing, educational, and medical initiative in one of the poorest countries in the world.
Milos says Lambton College is turning heads.
“One of the things we love hearing from our competition is, how big is your school? When we say 3,000 [students], they say your school is almost as big as our business school! We say no, our business school isn’t 3,000. Our entire school is 3,000. People can not believe that this small college is doing such world-class things,” he says.
Enactus is an international non-profit organization that brings together student leaders to create a better, more sustainable world through the positive power of business.
It operates in 36 countries with the involvement of 1,700 college and university campuses.
