Visit Oil Springs' website.
The Village of Oil Springs is surrounded by the Township of Enniskillen, but remains a unique and independent muncipality. Once a thriving oil town, and the site of North American's first commercial oil well, today Oil Springs offers peaceful rural community living.
Learn more about Oil Springs' booming oil town "hard oil" days at the Oil Museum of Canada, designated a National Historic Site. (see link below).
Also designated a National Historic Site is Fairbank Oil Properties, where generations have been pumping oil since 1861, making it the oldest oil producing family in the world. Today it still produces 24,000 barrels of oil annually and it still uses the pioneer methods. This preserved pocket of history is dotted by life-sized metal sculptures depicting oil pioneers at work.
The Oil Springs municipal offices are located at 4591 Oil Springs Line.
