|Ontario Ministrry of Agriculture|
|Growing Forward 2 is a comprehensive federal-provincial-territorial initiative aimed at encouraging innovation, competitiveness and market development in Canada's agri-food and agri-products sector.
Growing Forward 2 is a single funding program that offers funding assistance to established processors and new processing businesses to grow profits, expand markets and manage shared risks. Funding assistance supports seven areas of focus where eligible clients can apply for cost-share for Capacity Building activities (skill development and training, assessments, planning, etc) and Project Implementation (implementation of plans, applied research projects, etc.). Innovation is a key component..
The seven areas of focus are:
1. Environment and climate change adaptation
2. Animal and plant health
3. Market development
4. Labour productivity enhancements
5. Assurance systems (food safety, traceability, animal welfare)
6. Business and leadership development
7. Investing in Innovation
Processors can access 50 per cent cost-share towards projects under Capacity Building.
With respect to Implementation, processors can access 35 per cent cost-share towards projects and 50 percent cost-share towards innovative projects.
The Growing Forward 2 cost-share funding cap for a single processing business covering both Capacity Building activities and Project Implementation is $350,000 over the 5-years timeframe of the program (April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2018).
The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food (OMAF) is delivering Growing Forward 2 to processors across the province.|
