Brain Power

Sarnia-Lambton has an excellent choice of educational opportunities for every stage of learning. There are twelve post-secondary educational facilities in or near Sarnia-Lambton, which are detailed in the table below.

University

The University of Western Ontario, Sarnia-Lambton Campus, offers three Masters of Engineering programs for engineers interested in upgrading their skills. The subject areas are Masters of Engineering in Chemical Engineering, Biomaterials and Biochemical Engineering, and Environmental and Green Engineering. College

Lambton College offers comprehensive programs in a wide variety of fields, including Business and Law; Health, Hospitality and Community Services; Technology and Applied Science; Applied and General Arts; Information Technology; and Business and Industry. The College offers applied-degree programs in Applied Technology, Instrumentation and Control, Applied Technology, and Environmental Health and Safety.

The College has a history of working cooperatively with industry to provide the necessary education and training for its employees. Co-op programs include information technology, chemical products engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial hygiene, instrumentation and environmental technology.

The College's Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship school provides apprenticeship training in a number of in-demand careers, such as carpentry, construction maintenance electrician, industrial electrician, welding and steamfitter/pipefitter, and horticulture.

The College's Centre for Advanced Process Technology provides training in leading edge process
technologies and applications. Theory and applications are tested through dynamic simulations or
processing of samples in the advanced technology laboratories.

Building on its history of more than 40 years of process technology leadership, Lambton College's
Alternative (Sustainable) Energy Engineering Technology Program provides theory and application
skills in current and emerging energy technologies. Their Advanced Materials Engineering Research
Lab
(major sponsor Lanxess) is dedicated to the use of polymer and biodegradable materials and
advanced manufacturing technologies.

Also at Lambton College, the Suncor Sustainability Centre is the hub
for sustainability initiatives in the region. The Sustainability Centre is part of the industry-led
Bluewater Sustainability Initiative, which brings together business, industry, and civic organizations
with a shared vision of Sarnia-Lambton recognized world-wide as a hybrid, green community.

School Systems

The Lambton Kent District School Board operates 33 elementary and seven secondary schools in
Sarnia-Lambton. The Board provides an extensive selection of programs in all core subject areas, as
well as French Immersions, Extended French and Native Language. To learn more about the

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board operates 15 elementary and three secondary schools in Sarnia-Lambton. The Board's mission statement reads in part "....to build an inclusive Catholic learning community and to serve as partners in the formation of life-long learners".
