Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership recognized by Site Selection Magazine for 6th time

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is pleased to announce that it has been named as one of the Top 20 Canadian Economic Development Groups in Site Selection magazine’s Canada’s Best Locations 2019 Awards.

Recognizing local or regional economic development groups, Site Selection magazine’s Canada’s Best Locations awards take into consideration excellence in regional partnerships, proactive and innovative programming, and quality data, web tools and resources.

This is the second consecutive and sixth time overall in the 13-year history of the Canada’s Best Locations awards that the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership has been named as one of the best economic development groups in Canada, with the honour previously coming in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2014, and 2018.

“We are thrilled to once again receive this honour,” said Stephen Thompson, CEO of the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership.

“Now well into year two of our Strategic Plan, the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership has re-established a strong team that continues to engage in unique projects to support business development through proactive outreach,” Thompson added, noting “We are proud to offer a wide array of programming that positively assists businesses of all types and sizes.”

Site Selection magazine noted that Alex Ward, Manager of Open Innovation at Origin Materials, said that the Sarnia-Lambton area “…has more potential than the rest of Canada probably realizes.”

Managing Editor of Site Selection, Adam Bruns, agreed with Ward’s sentiment, but also stated “These rankings are based on project data and not opinions,” noting the methodology that relies on cumulative and per-capita calculations involving facility investments by corporate end-users.

“But I think I’d have to agree with Origin Materials Canada’s Alex Ward when she says the area ‘has more potential than the rest of Canada probably realizes,’” Bruns added.

Alex Palimaka, Chair of the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership’s Board of Directors, said that once again, this recognition validates the direction of the organization.

“The Board is very proud that our team has again been recognized as one of the top economic development groups in the Country,” he said.

“As our team continues to bring awareness to all that makes Sarnia-Lambton an excellent place to live, work, and raise a family, this recognition further reinforces that the Economic Partnership is a valuable resource to our community partners and we hope that our work can aid in further bolstering Sarnia-Lambton area as an economic hub,” Palimaka added.
