Starter Company Plus now accepting applications

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is pleased to announce it is now offering grants of up to $5,000 to small business owners and entrepreneurs through the Starter Company Plus program.

Administered by the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership’s Business Enterprise Centre and funded by the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation, and Trade, Starter Company Plus is a program that supports small business owners and entrepreneurs by combining grant funding, coaching, mentorship, and community support.

Six grants, totaling $30,000, are available through the program, and will provide successful applicants with capital to grow an existing business or start a new one, while also providing personalized business coaching and access to peer-led support sessions.

“Entrepreneurship is a major driver of the economy in the Sarnia-Lambton area, and Starter Company Plus offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to shape their future and the future of their community,” said Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership CEO, Stephen Thompson.

“Starter Company Plus complements our existing Summer Company Program that is targeted to students and allows all entrepreneurs the opportunity to access funding for their businesses. We are proud to offer this opportunity to the Sarnia-Lambton area as we continue to strive to make the region an excellent place to live, work, raise a family, and retire,” Thompson added.

To be eligible for the Starter Company Plus program, applicants must be over the age of 18 and not currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution, have at least 25% of the requested grant amount in equity, and have not received a Starter Company Grant in the past.
