Setting up a municipally funded corporation to run the Sarnia Airport is one of the recommendations from a working group tasked with providing city council guidance on what to do with the money-losing asset.
Similar to the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park or Tourism Sarnia-Lambton, the “municipal services company” would still be accountable to municipal funders, but have its own board of directors and be more nimble to make decisions to grow the airport, said Tom Strifler, a spokesperson with the city’s Airport Action Working Group.
