Sarnia-Lambton, Ontario – October 23, 2013 – Energy industry experts will gather in Sarnia-Lambton on November 20 for the Grid Resiliency Through Energy Storage in South Western Ontario conference. They will be discussing new energy storage technologies and how they can reduce power outage risks, associated costs, and improve grid management.

The conference will shine the spotlight on Sarnia-Lambton’s unique energy infrastructure, research, and development opportunities.

The event is being organized by The Ontario Centres of Excellence, Hydro One Networks Inc., Bluewater Power and Electek Power Services, Lambton College’s Bluewater Technology Access Centre, Peter Smith Energy Consultant, and the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership; technical co-sponsorship by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) London Section Power and Energy Society Chapter; and support from the BlueGreen Innovation Group.

“The new energy storage technologies now under development really have the potential to help industry stay on line or shut down in a controlled manner during power interruptions,” notes conference co-chair Peter Smith, Energy Consultant. “This conference is intended to help industry understand the potential of these new technologies and to help the technology developers understand what industry needs.”

Speaker Cam Carver, President and CEO of Temporal Power and Chair of the Ontario Sustainability Energy Association, will discuss energy storage in Ontario from a policy and regulatory perspective.

Prof. Jatin Nathwani, Executive Directory of Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE), will bring a local focus to the conference as he examines energy storage as a building block for smart energy networks.
