Four students participating in 2019 Summer COmpany Program

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is pleased to announce four young entrepreneurs will be taking part in the 2019 Summer Company Program.

Operating for the 20th year in Sarnia-Lambton, the joint initiative between the Economic Partnership and the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation, and Trade will see the four students receive a $1,500 grant to launch their business as well as mentoring and training over the course of eight weeks this summer.

Upon successful completion of the Summer Company Program, the four students are eligible to receive another $1,500 in funding for a grand total of $3,000.

Businesses operating in the Summer Company Program are a web development company, a watercraft cleaning operation, a lawn care company, and an eyelash boutique, and include participants throughout Lambton County with two business operating in St. Clair Township, and one each in Brooke-Alvinston and Sarnia.

Open to high school and post-secondary students between the ages of 15 and 29, the 2019 Summer Company Program recruited participants through social media advertising, radio advertising, visits to Lambton County high schools, and an open house at District Beta, a virtual reality arcade owned and operated by an alumnus of the Summer Company Program.

“The Summer Company Program provides an excellent opportunity for young entrepreneurs to receive training that will benefit them for years to come,” said Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership CEO, Stephen Thompson.

“This particular group of participants offers a wide variety of services and teaching opportunities and will provide more opportunity for our team to continue to foster business throughout Lambton County,” he added.
