H. C. Starck Canada is undergoing a multi-million dollar expansion at its Canadian production facility in Sarnia, the refractory metal company has announced.

The expansion, which began Monday, will involve construction of a new building, installing state-of-the-art equipment and hiring additional technical staff at the Vidal Street South facility.

“The project is addressing the increasing demand for premium quality tungsten powders in North America,” Manfred Buetefisch, general manager of the company’s central operations in Germany, said in a press release.

The expansion is scheduled to take 15 months.

This is the first major expansion for H. C. Starck Canada, which was established in 1996 and has a staff of more than 30 people.
