A heavy haul transportation corridor from local industry to docks in Sarnia-Lambton is another step closer to reality.
In its Fall Economic Statement, the Ontario government has committed to streamlining superload permits which would make approvals more efficient and save businesses money.
Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) Project Leader Dave Moody says it would be a huge benefit to the oil and gas, bio-chemical, mining, bio-fuel, agriculture, shipping and manufacturing sectors.
Modifications to existing roads including widening, and eliminating power lines , are estimated to cost $3.6-million.
Moody expects the Ontario government’s new regulations to be in place sometime in 2016.
He says SLEP along with the Sarnia-Lambton Industrial Alliance will continue to work with local industry to develop a business case and detailed engineering plan for the corridor.
