Aduro Clean Technologies will present features and capabilities of its Hydrochemolytic™ Bitumen Upgrading technology (HBU) for transforming heavy crude oil and bitumen feedstocks into lighter, higher-value crude. Instead of the traditional reliance on high-temperature cracking, HBU promotes certain chemical reactions in maltenes and asphaltenes under relatively mild conditions. It then obtains stable crude product by co-processing with biobased material to effect clean in situ quenching of reactive intermediates. This process provides an opportunity for prairie provinces to participate with Alberta in a greener, more sustainable approach to bitumen upgrading, while advancing ESG priorities. HBU is anticipated to yield pipelineable products with no post-processing, potentially eliminate the requirement for any diluent, and offer additional benefits, including reduced emissions and energy use.

About the Aduro Clean Technologies
Aduro Clean Technologies has been working to address some of the pressing environmental issues faced by the global community today. One is the matter of unlocking value from waste plastics that pollute our lands and waterways. Others include improving the characteristics of bitumen through a greener conversion process and increasing the economic value of renewable oils in scalable operations that can be implemented locally.
