Lambton County Closes Deal at Dow Modeland Site

Lambton County is moving forward in its partnership with The University of Western Ontario Research & Development Park after finalizing several formalities today.

“We have closed the real estate deal for the Dow Modeland Centre and have formally incorporated the Community Development Corporation,” said Lambton County Warden Todd Case. “The University of Western Ontario Research & Development Park has executed their management agreement with the corporation and we are all preparing to proceed further.”

The County of Lambton established a Community Development Corporation earlier this month, which purchased 80 acres of land at the Dow Modeland Site. The CDC then partnered with the UWO R&D Park to establish a Sarnia-Lambton Campus, which will focus its emphasis on research, training and technology transfer and commercialization.

“We’re very excited to be at this point so quickly,” said George Mallay, General Manager, Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership. “It demonstrates that the partners are working well together and are eager to get started.”

The Community Development Corporation’s next task will be to appoint a Board of Directors in December, and then for that Board to develop a strategic plan which will set the course and vision for the R&D Park.
