Making exporting easier the goal of new community effort

Sarnia-Lambton, Ontario, Canada – September 10, 2014 –The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce and Sarnia-Lambton Business Development Corporation are partnering in a community wide effort to gather information that will identify opportunities and challenges associated with exporting goods and services from Lambton County.

The information collected will be used to identify needs, concerns and opportunities related to exporting; and ease the exporting process by identifying local actions that can be undertaken to meet exporters’ needs. The project will also customize and enhance procedures and programs to assist and support Sarnia-Lambton businesses with their exporting plans.

The ultimate goal of the project is to increase the prosperity of businesses in the area by helping them access cross-border and world-wide markets for their products and services.

Lambton County businesses that export, or companies that are considering exporting, will be asked for their participation.

George Mallay, General Manger of the Economic Partnership, noted that a Business and Retention Survey focused on exporting has been developed specifically for the project. “We have a slate of volunteers who will be contacting local companies,” he said. “We hope that that our local business owners and operators will have time to schedule 30 – 45 minutes in which our volunteers can visit to gather their input for the survey.”

The information collected will be used to identify needs, concerns and opportunities related to exporting, and to ease the exporting process by identifying local actions that can be undertaken to meet exporters’ needs.

“We also plan to customize and enhance procedures and programs that will assist and support Sarnia-Lambton businesses with their exporting plans,” noted Mallay.

Over the next two months a number of area businesses will be receiving invitation letters explaining they may benefit from the project, and requesting their assistance.

Any Sarnia-Lambton businesses person that wishes to participate in this project to enhance the exporting capabilities of the area may contact Jeanny Leung at the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership by phoning 519-332-1820, extension 230, or by e-mail at jeanny@www.sarnialambton.on.ca
