Sarnia Produce is building a new store to keep up with the high demand for fresh fruits and vegetables.

Owner Dean Troiani said the 11,000 square foot facility on Lite Street in Point Edward will cost as much as $3 million.

“We recently purchased the adjacent property next door, it was a car wash which we’ve recently demolished and we plan on expanding and building a state-of-the-art retail store to service Point Edward and Sarnia,” said Troiani.

He said the building they’re currently operating in will be dedicated to just wholesale produce.

“Business is great. We can not complain. It’s been a fabulous go these last few years. There’s an increasing desire to eat healthier at affordable pricing, so we plan on building a nice store. Something people can come in and buy lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and we’re not going to hurt their wallet.”

The family owned and operated business has been in Point Edward for 43 years.

It was located on Kendall Street first, before moving to Lite Street.
