The year 2005 was good for the local economy. New investments in the refining and chemical industry spurred growth in other sectors. The Economic Partnership pursued investment attraction in the following sectors: automotive, call centres, general manufacturing, transportation & logistics, chemical and refining, power generation, industrial biotechnology and alternative energies. A new Resident Attraction Program was started and Business Growth Services increased the number of consultations. The Youth Programs are gaining in popularity every year. The Business Directory introduced a new “business-to-business” section and three new brochures were created.
