Sarnia least expensive location for business

New KPMG Study shows Sarnia’s competitiveness

Sarnia has been ranked as the least expensive location for doing business in Ontario and thirteenth when compared against 64 cities internationally in a study released today by KPMG Consulting of Vancouver. The major finding of the study is that overall business costs in Canada are lower than in the United States and other competing countries.

The study is based on a model that compares significant location-sensitive cost factors in chosen industries in eight selected countries. The study included 46 cities in North America, of which nine were in Ontario.

The industries examined in the study were electronics, food processing, medical devices, metal fabrication, plastics, pharmaceuticals, software production and telecommunications equipment. Key location sensitive costs factors that were examined included land and building costs, construction costs, labour, transportation, electricity, telecommunications and taxes.
