SLEP to host Community Consultations across Lambton County

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is inviting Sarnia-Lambton residents to provide input at a series of sessions taking place throughout Lambton County.

“We are excited to provide residents of the Sarnia-Lambton area the opportunity to participate in the development of their community and invite everyone to come share their vision for the area moving forward,” said Stephen Thompson, CEO of the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership.

Aimed at increasing the economic activity in the Sarnia-Lambton area, these consultation sessions will offer residents the opportunity to have a voice when it comes to the future of their community.

The facilitated sessions, which kick off on Wednesday, Sept. 18, are designed to be engaging and positive, focusing on the community amenities residents are proud of as well as identifying a strategic “wish list” of businesses.

Area residents are encouraged to attend and share the vision they have for their community, specifically what businesses they would like to see in their community over the next decade.

The information gathered in these sessions will be combined with market analysis data which will support the creation of marketing materials for each of the Sarnia-Lambton area’s 11 municipalities.

The Economic Partnership will collaborate with each municipality on the development of the marketing materials which can also be leveraged for new resident attraction purposes.

This project is based on the principals of community economic development. “The economic growth of our area is driven by residents and business owners, and we encourage all residents to help identify our resources and assets, and build on that foundation to make our communities resilient for the long term,” said Thompson.

“These Consultation Sessions will supplement our ongoing visits to businesses throughout the Sarnia-Lambton area and provide us with more information as we work toward promoting economic opportunities across Lambton County. We look forward to seeing Sarnia-Lambton area residents at the sessions held in their communities,” he added.
