The Town of Petrolia has a new logo to go with their new slogan.

Etched in shades of green is the historic clock tower that sits above Victoria Hall.

“We wanted to make sure that we kept with the familiarity,” said marketing manager Laurissa Ellsworth, adding that the stone tower is “the heart of the community.”

The new logo joins the recently-implemented slogan “You’ll be surprised!” as part of a rebranding effort by the town.

“The logo and slogan are the backbone of the new branding guide,” read a recent report at town council.

Ellsworth said the concept was designed by Electric Crayon Graphic & Web Design in Sarnia, but the budget for the project was basically “nil.”

“It’s very grassroots,” she said. “The expenditures will really be in basically producing the guides, you know for staff and other use.”

The logo, in development for about a year, was selected by committee.

“We saw quite a few before we settled on one.”

The logo won’t be the only one used by the town. Earlier this summer, the town installed a new sign featuring the town crest to greet visitors on Oil Heritage Road.

“The crest will still be visible,” said Ellsworth, adding that it will be used for primarily business-related issues.

“This (new) logo will be more for tourist-related activities.”

A full branding guide is expected to be delivered in the new year.
