Two new physicians to North Lambton Community Health Centre

The Physician Recruitment Taskforce of Sarnia Lambton in partnership with the North Lambton Community Health Centre are proud to announce the recruitment of Dr. Kate Brown and Dr. Natalia Koldewey.

Both physicians will be working part-time at the North Lambton Community Health Centre at the Forest and Kettle Point sites. Kathy Bresset, Executive Director for the Health Centre says, “We are pleased to have two female physicians join our team with experience with Aboriginal Health, Geriatrics, and physical fitness”

Dr. Kate Brown is a Sarnia-native, who has been on the Taskforce’s radar since she first began her medical education. Carly Nienhuis, physician recruiter for the Taskforce says, “We have been in communication with Dr. Brown since she first began her journey through medical school. The recruitment of Dr. Brown is a true testament to the time and dedication it can take in the recruitment of a new physician.” Brown was one of three recipients of the 9th Annual Legacy Scholarship Awards offered by the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce and the Physician Recruitment Taskforce in 2013. This year marked the final year of the scholarship.

Dr. Natalia Koldewey has been providing locum coverage at the Health Centre for the past 2 months, before deciding to make the move from Ottawa to Forest. She is currently still practicing in Ottawa until January 2015, when she will be relocating to Forest.

North Lambton Community Health Centre provides primary health care, chronic disease and health promotion programs in the surrounding areas of Forest, Kettle Point, Watford and Sarnia. Two additional sites operate in Sarnia for Cardiac Rehab on Essex Street and Pulmonary Rehab on Michigan Ave. The CHC team of staff, community board members and volunteers will be celebrating the promotion of health and well- being for 20 years in our communities.

“The rural areas of Lambton County have such a large need for family physicians that we hope to continue our partnership with the North Lambton Community Health Centre and Lambton Shores to assist in the recruitment of more physicians in the future.” says Nienhuis.
