Waterville TG grows again

Another 100 jobs will come to the area after auto parts manufacturer Waterville TG Inc., a manufacturer of automotive weather sealing systems, announced an expansion Wednesday of a plant still under construction.

In September 1998 Waterville TG Inc. announced that they would build a new manufacturing and warehousing facility on 47 acres of land in the Petrolia Industrial Park. The Sarnia-Lambton Office of Economic Development and the Town of Petrolia had been working with Waterville for several months prior.

Construction will begin immediately on the plant’s second phase in Petrolia’s industrial park. By June 2000 the expanded plant should be manufacturing weatherstripping and sealing products for North American automakers.

There will be 225 people working at the site by 2000, an increase of 100 compared to the number needed for the first phase. Waterville, a subsidiary of Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd. of Japan, will spend $20 million on the expansion, bringing the company’s total Petrolia investment to about $30 million.
