An initiative to support Permanent Residents settle, establish & thrive in Canada. The Newcomer Hub provides career support, mentorship, soft skill development, and entrepreneurial guidance tailored to newcomers in the Sarnia-Lambton region.
Your bridge to meaningful employment, business success, and community connection in Sarnia-Lambton.
Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the Sarnia-Lambton Newcomer Hub is a community-wide initiative designed to support Permanent Residents with practical tools, real-world connections, and confidence-building activities. Whether you're searching for your first Canadian job, exploring entrepreneurship, or looking to grow your professional network, we’re here to support you through four core pillars:

Build your Canadian network through in-person and interactive events. Meet local employers, learn how to present your skills effectively, and participate in discussions that break down barriers between newcomers and the workforce. Our small-group events promote open conversation, myth-busting, and collaborative problem-solving to create real hiring opportunities.

Polish your resume, optimize your LinkedIn, and practice the soft skills that Canadian employers value. These workshops help you understand Canadian workplace culture, build confidence, and improve your ability to communicate your value to employers. Expect practical exercises, expert tips, and peer feedback in every session.

Have a business idea or side hustle? Learn how to turn it into a viable venture. From idea validation and business registration to pitching and funding, this stream guides you through the essentials of entrepreneurship in Canada—especially designed for newcomers exploring self-employment.

Tap into the experience of those who’ve walked a similar path. Our mentorship stream connects you with professionals and fellow immigrants who provide guidance, encouragement, and insight. You’ll learn through peer circles, storytelling, and one-on-one conversations that make the journey feel less overwhelming and more empowering.

Back by popular demand, the Sarnia-Lambton Newcomer Hub is excited to announce the first golf and learn networking event of 2026!
Calling all employers and newcomers: Join us for an unforgettable exploration of bridging cultures in a Canadian workforce.
Date: Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 5 -7PM
Venue: Sticks & Stones Indoor Golf Sarnia, 49 Finch Street, Sarnia, ON
Our featured guest speaker is John Edward McGraw. John believes that when people are truly heard across cultures, workplaces flourish. A Multicultural Workplace Expert, Inclusive Communication Specialist, and Human Connection Speaker, John is the founder of Hiyaku Coaching, an intercultural communication consultancy named for the Japanese word meaning "leap forward."
John built his expertise over fifteen years teaching English in Japan and Canada, where he saw firsthand that real connection goes far deeper than shared vocabulary. That experience led him to develop three signature frameworks, LEAP, SPEAK, and SHAPE, that help leaders let go of assumptions, communicate inclusively, and make invisible workplace culture visible for newcomers and Canadians alike.
An ICF-credentialed coach and two-time TEDx speaker, John has partnered with workforce and economic development organizations across Ontario to strengthen cultural fluency and boost retention. Every workshop, keynote, and coaching conversation is rooted in one belief: no one should have to shrink themselves to belong at work.
The Newcomer Hub is thrilled to have John, paired with opportunities for employers and newcomers to network and golf! This event will be held at Sticks and Stones (49 Finch Drive, Sarnia) from 5:00 – 7:00PM on Thursday, April 23rd.
