Vacant building to be re-purposed as medical facility

Josh Boyce - Blackburn News Sarnia, March 27, 2019New life is being breathed into a building that was once a popular Sarnia bar.Work is underway to transform the former Woody�s Beach Bar at 494 Christina Street North into a five unit medical office.Maaten Construction is undertaking the work after Sarnia Medical Group was issued a $1-million building permit.Sarnia Chief Building Official Ken Barros said it�s encouraging to see development near the downtown core.�Anytime someone is repurposing a vacant building, as opposed to having to redevelop new sites, it�s always nice especially in the downtown core.�It�s not known when the offices will be ready for occupancy but Barros says the city is monitoring the progress.Woody�s Beach Bar closed its doors over ten years ago and the building has been vacant ever since.
