Sarnia, ON – In a strategic effort to strengthen the local labour market and support residents in navigating today’s competitive job landscape, the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) has expanded its Career Accelerator program to serve all job seekers in Sarnia-Lambton.
Previously exclusive to graduating Lambton College international students, Career Accelerator now offers free one-on-one virtual career coaching to any Sarnia-Lambton resident actively seeking local employment. This expansion is part of SLEP’s broader commitment to long-term workforce development that aligns with its ongoing mission to connect local talent with local opportunities, enhancing both career outcomes and the region’s economic resilience.
“In order to grow a stable and competitive local economy, we must ensure that our labour force is prepared, aligned with industry needs, and supported with the right resources to make informed career decisions,” said Matthew Slotwinski, CEO of the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership. “The expansion of Career Accelerator to encompass all local residents reflects our long-term strategy to strengthen Sarnia-Lambton’s workforce and provide clear, results-driven support to job seekers and businesses alike.”
“Having witnessed the success of Lambton College’s international graduates through the Career Accelerator program, it became clear that the broader community could benefit greatly from the same resources,” said Cari Meloche, Economic Development Officer at SLEP. “As more residents look to upskill, re-enter the workforce, or explore new career pathways, expanding the program to include the entire community was a clear and meaningful next step. By adding another layer of support within the region’s broader employment ecosystem, the program complements existing services and helps more residents pursue diverse career opportunities.”
Through the Career Accelerator program, participants can now book a free, virtual one-on-one consultation with a professional Career Coach, receiving personalized advice to strengthen resumes, offer tips on improving interview performance, and explore employment strategies and career decisions that align with Sarnia-Lambton’s evolving job market. Appointments are available to individuals who currently reside in Lambton County, are actively seeking employment, and have not previously participated in the program.
Career Accelerator is one of several key initiatives in SLEP’s suite of workforce development programs, each designed to enhance job readiness, employer connectivity, and inclusive economic growth across Sarnia-Lambton. These include:
