Winner Chosen for “Show Us Your Sarnia-Lambton” Photo Contest

When the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership put the residents of Lambton County up to the task of combining their civic pride and photographic talents into a photo contest, the response was phenomenal. Sharon East, at the Economic Partnership, said, “During the 4 months (November to February) that the contest was open, we received close to 350 submissions.” Added Dan Tye, from the same organization, “It was a great idea, with even better results than expected.”

The photos were evaluated by a panel of 5 judges. They were: Tanya Baxter, Business Self-Help Office; Darlene Coke, County of Lambton; Jackie Grant, Canweb Internet Services; Nora Penhale, The Observer; and Vicki Prail, Tourism Sarnia-Lambton. The judges decided on the top 20 photos and then one was randomly picked to be the ultimate prize-winner of the Canon A60 Digital Camera donated by Insight Data Systems.

Linda Pickford of Sarnia was absolutely thrilled to hear that her photo of the statue honouring Kettle and Stony Point First Nation veterans was drawn from the top 20 photos for the prize. She said of her achievement, “I am so happy. I will continue to take pictures of Sarnia-Lambton, now with my new digital camera!” She, and the photographers of the remaining top 20 photos, will also receive a copy of MyPhotoSERVER, Canweb’s online solution to sharing digital photography.

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership would like to thank all the participants who submitted their photos. To view the winning photo as well as many others, visit the website at www.slep.wpengine.com.
