Economic Partnership one of Top Canadian Economic Development Groups

“Site Selection” magazine has again recognized the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership as one of Canada’s Top Canadian Economic Development Groups.

The announcement was made today as part of the publication’s seventh annual “Canada’s Best to Invest” awards.

The accolade recognizes the top 10 local Canadian economic development groups; based on project data, regional partnership, proactive and innovative programming, and quality data and web tools and resources.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition of the efforts put forth by the Economic Partnership,” said Economic Partnership GM, George Mallay. “Our community is well known for its collaborative efforts, and we believe that the economic initiatives we have undertaken with local partners factor in this award.”

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership was also noted by “Site Selection” as a Top Canadian Economic Development Group in 2006-2007, 2007-2008, and 2009-2010.

“The award is because of the hard work of George Mallay and the staff team working with the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership Board, to put in place the fundamentals in the region to create jobs with a short and long term vision of Sarnia-Lambton’s future. To that end, on September 16th the Board will meet to review, refocus and recharge the economic strategies for the years ahead. The Economic Partnership Board is unique in having a community-based grass roots approach to economic development by having a Board that includes business, labour, First Nations, educators, agriculture and local government leaders and others working together,” noted Partnership Board chair, Mayor Mike Bradley.

“Site Selection’s” top Canadian economic development groups for 2014, are: City of Ajax (Ont.); Alberta’s Industrial Heartland Association; Canada’s Technology Triangle (Ont.); City of Charlottetown (PEI); City of Hamilton Economic Development (Ont.); Montréal International, Québec International; Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (Ont.); Invest Toronto; and Windsor Essex Economic Development Corp. (Ont.).
