November 14, 2016 – The Observer Staff – Lambton College has earned a pair of international awards for applied research and entrepreneurship.
The college announced Monday it had recently been given the honours – silver in applied research and bronze in entrepreneurship – at the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) International Awards of Excellence.
Applied research kudos came for demonstrating “excellence in addressing real-world challenges,” a news release from Lambton College says.
Enactus Lambton earned the nod in entrepreneurship for its One Seed Project.
The second annual awards were held Sept. 23-25 in Vitória, Brazil, according to wfcp.org.
The announcement comes shortly after Lambton was ranked first in Ontario and third in Canada by Research Infosource Inc. on its latest list of Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges.
“Lambton College has a global reputation for being innovative, visionary, productive and entrepreneurial, said Judith Morris, college president and CEO, in the release.
“Our work in the areas of applied research and entrepreneurship have had a major impact on economic development not only in our own community, but in Canada and around the world,” she said. “I am incredibly proud of Lambton College’s global accomplishments and thrilled to see both of these groups recognized.”
Lambton has also received innovation awards this year from Colleges and Institutes Canada, and the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce.
