Software company taking root and expanding in Sarnia

IT company Clear Care Inc. has grown from 20 employees to almost 50 in the year that it has called the St.Clair Corporate Centre home, and there are no signs that it will be slowing down its growth anytime soon.

NOVA expansion progressing

NOVA Chemicals’ 2.2 billion dollar Rokeby Site expansion has broken ground and has made significant progress in the year since announcing the project. Check out the video of the work that has been done, courtesy of NOVA Chemicals, below.

Sarnia-Lambton earns Smart 21 designation

For the fourth consecutive year, the Sarnia-Lambton area has been named one of the world’s 2018 Smart21 Communities by the Intelligent Community Forum. Honouring excellence economic, social and cultural development in the digital age, Sarnia-Lambton was recognized alongside communities such as Adelaide, Australia, Chicago, USA, Moscow, Russia, and Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Oversized Load Corridor project manager hired

The City of Sarnia, in conjunction with the County of Lambton and St. Clair Township, has announced the hiring of Lyle Johnson to oversee the planning, design, and implementation of the Oversized Load Corridor that will connect fabricators to the Port of Sarnia.

Lambton College named Canada’s top research college

Fresh off of opening its new Centre of Excellence, Lambton College was named Canada’s top research college by Research Infosource Inc. on Nov. 1, 2018, while also earning the top ranking for medium sized colleges for the 3rd consecutive year.

Discoveries That Matter launches new website

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, in conjunction with the County of Lambton, launched a new, interactive Discoveries That Matter website on Nov. 22 at events in Grand Bend and Sarnia. Sarnia-Lambton Industrial Alliance hosts annual general meeting

The Sarnia-Lambton Industrial Alliance hosted its annual general meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 21 where Oversized Load Corridor manager Lyle Johnson was introduced to members of the region’s industrial community. To learn more about the Industrial Alliance, click the link below.

Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership takes part in PLMA show

In association with the Ontario Food Cluster (OFC), Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership Senior Economic Development Officer Matthew Slotwinski attended the PLMA 2018 Tradeshow in Chicago. The tradeshow featured more than 1,500 companies from over 50 countries exhibiting their products, including 30 international pavilions. As part of the OFC initiative, member communities took part in forty pre-arranged company meetings.

Seminar Offerings
Legislation changes to the Employment Standards Act are set to come into effect on January 1, 2019. To help small businesses in the Sarnia-Lambton area understand the changes, the Business Enterprise Centre and the Ministry of Labour will be offering a comprehensive seminar in the new year. Small town to big screen
The Town of Petrolia played host to a Hollywood movie shoot for the month of October after director Guillermo del Toro filmed scenes for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark at the Sunnyside Mansion – also known as the Fairbank House.
LCY Biosciences Inc. to explore new products

The former BioAmber site, purchased by LCY Biosciences Inc., will explore expanding its offerings from biosuccinc acid to a variety of products when production resumes at the facility that was purchased by Visolis and LCY Group.
