UWO Research Park To Ask For Community Leaders’ Input

The University of Western Ontario Research and Development Park, Sarnia-Lambton Campus, is poised to launch its strategic plan – and they are asking for business and community leaders’ input. A draft plan has been prepared and the Research Park is seeking feedback and community input to finalize and map out the future direction and focus of the Park .

“We have set up special strategic planning sessions and have invited a large number of leaders from the Sarnia-Lambton community,” said Ker Ferguson, Director of the R&D Park. “We want and need to hear from them, so that we can ascertain how the Park can best assist them in building their organizations and the community. We are not here to operate independently, but to be an active, collaborative partner in the economic success of the region.”

In addition to the sessions, the staff working group has developed a questionnaire to distribute to attendees. This questionnaire will allow the R&D Park to gain a better sense of how it can assist companies and organizations within Sarnia-Lambton.

Feedback received at the sessions and from the questionnaire will be incorporated into the recommendations for the plan. The strategic plan will then be presented to the R&D Park’s Board of Directors at its October board meeting, where it is anticipated that it will receive final board approval.

The UWO Research and Development Park Sarnia-Lambton Campus, was created in November 2003 with the inception of the Community Development Corporation, owned by the County of Lambton. The R&D Park manages and operates the property owned by the CDC. The CDC is itself governed by a Board of Directors with representation from The University of Western Ontario, the County of Lambton and the City of Sarnia.
